History
The C-47 was made by the Douglas Co. of the US, equipped with two R-1830-92 reciprocating engines of each with a maximum of 1,200 horse powers. It has a maximum speed of 202 nautical miles per hour, service ceiling of 22,150 feet, and a capacity of 27 passengers or 20 soldiers. Because it is excellent in performance and easy to maintain, it has been widely used all over the world. It joined the ROC Air Force service in 1944 for missions of airdrop during Sino-Japanese War and the Period of Suppressing Communist Rebellions. After moving to Taiwan from Mainland China in 1949, it worked as a special plane and for use of air transportation flying training of the ROC Air Force Academy. It contributed greatly in ROC air transportation history.
