To promote the bilingual education policy for students, “The Voice of Jianqiao - English Song Contest” was held at Jhongjheng Auditorium by the Department of Applied Foreign Languages from the Academic Division of the Academy on May 1. The contest was divided into the individual and group categories. Prof. Mu-Hsuan Zhou, the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at Wenzao Ursuline University, and Prof. Hsiu-Ling Hsu, the Head of the Department of Applied Foreign Languages at R.O.C. Naval Academy, were invited to be the judges for the contest.
Before the start of the event, Maj. Gen. Hu, the Principal of the Academy, offered words of encouragements to the contestants while also encouraging students in the audience to follow their example and express themselves. This was followed by great singing from the contestants and spectacular performances from student clubs. In the end, Zi-Chen Zhou, a senior student from the Department of Foreign Applied Languages, was awarded 1st place in the individual category. 🥇The 1st place in the group category 🏆 was shared by 5 students: Rui-Yu Hu, Yi-An Fu, Jia-Hao Liu, Xian-Chen Qiu, and Cheng-Yi Huang.
In his speech after the contest, Principal Hu said that “ten years of effort backstage culminates in a minute onstage.” The students who participated in the contest gave it their all, and the accolades they won are truly well-deserved. The spectacular performance everyone witnessed was the culmination of all their painstaking practices put in before the contest. He hoped that everyone will learn from their example, and encouraged everyone to do our best in order to secure the fruits of success.
