2024-05-09What are the differences between the Air Force Academy’s Department of Aeronautical Engineering and similar departments of typical colleges/universities?
The courses of the program are basically identical to those of non-military colleges/universities: Freshman (“pre-major”) cadets receive general education and are not allocated to expertise-oriented departments based on their performance and intent until sophomore year. Cadets receive academic and technical military training between semesters (i.e. during winter and summer vacations) to establish the quality of military character and leadership.
